Animal Protest

You hound us. Hunt us. Shoot us. Skin us
Stuff us. Mince us. Freeze us. Starve us.
Tame us. Trap us. Train us. Tin us.
Cull us. Chain us. Shame us. Carve us.

Racquets from the guts of old stray cats,
Fur coats from our minks; and gloves and hats
Fashionable capes from squirrels' tails,
Lotions and cosmetics from our whales

We share this lovely world with you
Please let us all enjoy it too
