Black and White

Imagine what the world would be if all was black and white
Like Gran remembers her TV, no colour then in sight
No blue-green sheen of peacocks' breasts, nor kingfishers in flight
No pale blue speckled eggs in nests, no daffodils so bright

No royal purple velvet gowns, no crimson hollyhocks
No coloured slides of foreign towns, no red of pillar box
No golden leaves at autumn time, no yellow of the sun
No gentle hue of larch and lime, it wouldn't be much fun
