A Funny Word

"On - o - mat - o - pei - a". What a funny word!
Can it be a plant? A fossil? Flower? Bird?
Every time you hear a shriek, a yell, a shout
you are getting nearer what it's all about

"Boom" and "Buzz" and "Bang" are giving you a clue
"Fitter patter", "ping pong", "moo" and "murmur" too
Standing in a puddle, "squelch" describes your shoes
When the muddy water "oozes" through

All these words describe the sounds that you can hear
This is what it's all about. "On - o - mat - o - pei - a"
