Dear Father,

Every day I am working hard to understand this language but I have a big difficulty with the spelling. There are the rules but they are breaking all the times. The word that I speak and the word that I write are not married with each other I give you some example from the army which is crazy.

I say LEFTENANT but I write LIEUTENANT, and I say CURNEL but I write COLONEL. The stations names are more crazier. I say LESTER but I write LEICESTER. At the tube I asked for a ticket to HOLBORN but the man said I must say HOBURN.

But I have made a good discovery about one rule which is never changing - I call it the english rule. As I have told you every englishman ques and so in the writing english, U always follow Q This is my little joke because I am thinking it is funny. There is also another problem too. Some words are spelled the same but they are spoken very different like COUGH, BOUGH, THROUGH. Farthermore some words are all spoken different like BOMB, COMB and TOMB but they also have the lazy B which is not speaking. There are many lazy BEES like DUMB, THUMB and DEBT and I never will understand this spellings.

Then there are the endings of the words which are ending with ED. I write STOPPED and PUSHED but I say STOPT and PUSHT.

Your loving son,

Iziz

My teacher correct me. It is spelled QUEUE. Now you are understanding about the crazy spelling.
