Imagine what the world would be
If all were black and white!
Like Granddad's old TV
No colour then in sight
No golden leaves at autumn time
No yellow of the sun
No gentle green of larch and lime
It wouldn't he much fun.
No royal purple velvet gowns,
Heather or hollyhocks
No coloured slides of foreign towns,
No red of pillar-box
No blue-green sheen of peacock's breast
No kingfisher in flight
No speckled eggs in nest
If all were black and white.
