'I teach the three R's', the Head said to me
'In my School for Living, I charge no fee.
My pupils - adults - are often afraid
They're tense, over-active, depressed or dismayed.
They've migraines or asthma or pains in their backs.
And so the first 'R' is to learn to relax.
'The second', he told me, 'is to learn to rely'.
'On what?' I asked, curious to hear his reply.
'On the still small voice within - invisible force
Which guided my thinking to start up this course.
It won't let you down like friends sometimes do
You've got to believe that it works, mind you.
I don't use compulsion, there's freedom of choice.
It's up to the class if they want to rejoice
Which is the third 'R' - a lesson in joy
Re-capturing the wonder one felt as a boy
A laugh-a-day therapy with humour and wit
To overcome gloom. It's become quite a hit'.
I pondered his words.
